Gameplay of Skiing for Atari 2600

Review

This game took console skiing up a notch. The game is single player but is easy to compete by taking turns. I really like the trees in this one. There are two modes of play. One has you navigating through flags and the other is just going down a run filled with trees. Both were fun. The controls are what make this game great. They have a really well designed skiing feel. You can turn harder to slow down or just slightly to make quick adjustments. Changing directions entirely takes a bit of extra time and effort. You must react quickly at speed to avoid the trees. This makes the game intense but fun when you hit a nice line. The game has modes where you can get a new run each time to keep things entertaining. While you stay on the mode you can keep playing the same run over and over again. This is important so that you can compete versus your own time or friends on the same course. Overall this is a very well thought out and designed game that raises the bar for skiing entries.
